Metal Wall Art

Original Artwork by Richard Walker

lighted metal wall art

Here is some information about the original metal wall art on this site.  Feel free to email me with any questions.

Construction:  Stainless steel is primarily used for building these pieces.  Precision cut stainless steel sheet makes up the face of many of the pieces and stainless steel round bar is used as the framework.  I use stainless steel because it is permanent.  It does not have to be protected by paint and can withstand outdoor elements without corroding.  Every piece is fully welded together.

Metallic Finishes:  I use a variety of finishes on my metal wall art.  Many of my pieces have a hand polished gloss finish.  These pieces are first primed with an automotive grade epoxy primer.  They are then sprayed with a metallic color base coat before being coated with at least 3 coats of clear.  Once cured, the clear coat is sanded and hand polished in a 4 stage process to get the smoothest finish possible.

Textured Stainless Finishes:  Many of my metal wall art pieces have hand textured stainless panels.  This was a process I developed specifically for my wall art.  The textured panels are designed to capture light and appear to shift as you walk by them.  They add depth to the designs.  The textured stainless is clear coated is most pieces but is left uncoated in some cases.

Textured Paint Finishes:  The textured paint finishes tend to have a satin finish.  Colors range from earth tones to muted colors.

Dimension:  I try to make the metal wall art designs three dimensional.  Many designs incorporate open space for light to pass through.  Most of the pieces stand away from the wall about 1.5 inches.  In addition to standing away from the wall, some pieces are layered.  Many of the lighted designs are done this way to allow light from behind the piece to pass through.

Wall Hanging:  Every piece is designed to be mounted on the wall as easily as possible.  I try to hide the mounts as much as possible.  All you will need to hang these pieces is a hammer.

Please see my Metal Wall Art Directory for a full list of available designs.
